The poet has a calm acceptance of her death. She is not fearful and metaphorically describes a slow illness and death as a carriage ride with a civil gentleman who takes the time to stop for her and allows her to travel with Death and the other penger,Immortality. The metaphoric ride allows her to see her past, present and future as she gently pes these moments as seen in stanza 3. Stanza 4 is her grave where it appears she is now blessed with immortality and eternal happiness.
