Master cleanse/cayenne pepper question?

I'm on my first day of The Master Cleanse. I made enough lemonade to get me through the day, however, I'm not sure if I used the right amount of pepper. I made it with 60 oz. of distilled water (i'm going to switch to spring water), 12 Tbsp. lemon juice, 12 Tbsp. maple syrup and a little less than 1/2 teaspoon of the cayenne. drinking it is okay, but as soon as i stop, I feel the pepper! It burns my throat so much, did I use too much, or is this what I'm supposed to be experiencing? Also, I think when I make it tomorrow, I will be using less of the maple syrup... not my most favorite flavor! ;-) Although, much better then the salt water
