Why does my skype keep crashing?

ok so recently skype hasnt worked coz it keeps crashing. I have found other people have had this problem and they deleted the shared.xml file and reopened skype and it solves the problem. However when i do this it dosent fix it and crashes as soon as i try 2 sign in. I use windows 7 any tips?
