Was Christ lying when he spoke about eternal punishment in hades?

Christ does not lie...everything in the bible is true...if there were no hell/hades...why did Jesus die for us...if we could just die in all go to heaven...why did God send Him for? there has to be something bad on the other side...and that is why Jesus came back for us...so we dont have to suffer that...
