Did you get pregnant with a negative test prior to a period?

It was a first response and I took it 5 days before my expected period and it was very negative. Has anyone had this happen and then turned out to be pregnant? (I'm sure we bd on and around ovulation, this is our 8th month trying and I'm 24 ... baby number two!)
